Santa Catalina Island at a Glance
Take a breath of fresh air and experience
the tangible beauty of Santa Catalina Island! With a ban of motorized vehicles
in place, enjoying the outdoors never felt so good. This rocky island just off
the coast of California is
located 22 miles (35 km) Southwest of the main land, San
Pedro and is the home to less than 4,000 people. Tourists arrive on the
island from every form of transportation; ferries departing from Long
Beach, San Pedro, Marina
Del Rey will have guests from one dock to another in less than an hour while
other, more leisurely, methods can take days. The Catalina
Explorer cruise ship and the Island
Express Helicopter are both very popular ways of touring Catalina. Keeping
Catalina fresh and interesting are exciting annual events, like the the Jazztrax
Showcase of the Absolute Newest and the killer waves found on the backside
of Catalina in Shark Harbor and Ben Weston Beach. While eager voyagers scuba
the ocean deep or snorkel near the shallows, Glass bottom Boats are touring
the reefs and shipwrecks. This naturally beautiful experience will have travelers
feeling fully restored and more in tune with nature than ever before.
